Titles Reflecting God’s Truthfulness

To call the Lord “the true God” means that he alone has in his being the fullness of deity and is worthy to be worshiped as God. He and his word are a trustworthy foundation for life because he speaks the truth and is utterly reliable and consistent in his character, his revelation of himself, his promises and his pronouncements.

The true God

2 Chronicles 15:3

For a long time Israel has been without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without law;

Jeremiah 10:10

10 But the Lord is the true God;

He is the living God and the everlasting King.

At His wrath the earth will tremble,

And the nations will not be able to endure His indignation.

1Thessalonians 1:9

For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God,

The God of truth

Psalm 31:5

5Into Your hand I commit my spirit;

You have redeemed me, O Lord God of truth.

Isaiah 65:16

16So that he who blesses himself in the earth

Shall bless himself in the God of truth;

And he who swears in the earth

Shall swear by the God of truth;

Because the former troubles are forgotten,

And because they are hidden from My eyes.

Jesus Christ is “the truth”

John 14:6; 1:14, 17; 6:32-33

14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. (This is the birth of Jesus at the Jewish Fall celebration of the “Feast of Tabernacles” in 14 Tishri 3757. See article on Dates and events of Jesus Birth- calendar at end).

1:7 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

6:32 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

Jesus Christ calls himself “the true bread” meaning that he is real, substantial, reliable and life-giving;

1 John 5:20

20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

Revelation 3:7, 14

“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write,

‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”:

14 “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write,

These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God:

The Spirit of truth

John 14:17

17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

John 15:26; 16:13

15:26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.

6:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

1 John 4:6

We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

1 John 5:6

This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth.

The best thing about truth in the Gospel is God’s Truth. Tell God’s truth, teach it to others and you will please God and build many rewards in heaven.

God is testing us every day and has given us the right to make our own choices. Do you know which ones are the right choices in Gods mind?

Fear God, love God, honor God, and trust God with all your heart, mind and soul and you will receive and experience the joy of the promises of God’s blessings in His time.
