Scriptures on the Rapture

Scriptures on the Rapture:

Christ’s coming for His church (the saints):

  • Pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things……and to stand before the Son of man (Lk. 21:36)
  • In my Father’s house are many mansions……I go to prepare a place for you ….. I will come again and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there you may be also (Jn. 14:1-3)
  • We (believers) shall not all sleep (die physically), but we shall all be changed. In a moment……at the last trumpet……the dead shall be raised and we (the living) and the dead shall be changed……we will be given an incorruptible, immortal and spiritual body……then death is swallowed up in victory (1 Cor. 15:51-56)
  • Christ loved the church……that He might present it to Himself (Eph. 5:25-27)
  • From whence (heaven) also we look for……Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body (Phil. 3:11, 20-21; 2 Cor. 5:1-9)
  • For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven……the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air (not on earth, and to go back to heaven with Him; 1 Th. 4:13-18; 2:19; 3:13; 5:9, 23)
  • We beseech you……by our gathering together unto Him……until he be taken out of the way (2 Th. 2:1,7-8)
  • When Christ…… unto the coming of the Lord…… until He receive the early and latter rain (Jas. 5:7-8).

James 5:7-8   Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. (Note: Latter Rain here refers to God the Father’s signal for Jesus to retrieve His church.)

Yes, He is coming to resurrect and translate (move to heaven) His church (all believers).  We also refer to that as the Rapture of all the saints.  Let me make it perfectly clear:  the Rapture is for believers only.  Christ is not coming for everyone on the church membership roles, or merely for good people.  He will rapture only those who are His through believing on Him, receiving Him as their Lord and Savior.  Works alone will not get you raptured!  Heaven is the perfect place for people who have faith and are made perfect.

Anyone who does not participate in the rapture will not actually “see” it, for it will occur “in the twinkling of an eye” (1 Cor. 15:52), which is faster than the eye can see.  The Rapture will be electrifyingly sudden but not secret, for when Christ calls His living saints to be with Him, millions of people the world over will suddenly vanish from the earth.  An unsaved person who happens to be in the company of a believer will know immediately that his friend has vanished.  There will certainly be worldwide recognition of the fact, for if hundreds of millions of people suddenly depart this earth, leaving their earthly belongings behind, pandemonium and confusion will certainly reign.

Consider that…

Millions of conversations will end in mid sentence.

Millions of phone receivers will suddenly go dead.

A woman will reach for a man’s hand in the dark, and no one will be there.

A man will turn with a laugh to slap a colleague on the back and his hand will move through empty air.

A basketball player will make a length-of-the-floor pass to a teammate streaking down the court and find there is no one there to receive it and no referee to call it out-of-bounds.

Think of the countless homes where, “in the twinkling of an eye,” only clothes remain in the chair where a believer sat moments before.

The world will somehow have to come to terms with these “millions” of missing Christians and the millions who have lost their lives on earth.  The ensuing outcry of sorrow, loss and confusion will make the Rapture a well-publicized event, dominating world media for weeks and weeks.

Yes, we, the church, are referred to as Christ’s bride along with the City of Jerusalem and He is our Bridegroom.  With the Holy Spirit as His agent, Christ searches for His bride.  When He finds her (all believers) He bestows the greatest gift of all, eternal life.  Though when we accept Him  we do not immediately go to live with our Bridegroom, but we are betrothed to Him (as in being engaged).  He is in heaven preparing a place for us.  Our name has been entered into God’s ketubah, more commonly known as the “Book of Life.” When believers actually get to live in the house Jesus built for them, then we will be considered as His bride.

Once all preparations are complete, the Father tells our Bridegroom to come for His bride. This will be the Rapture.

Today, the Master’s Son, Jesus Christ, waits to come for His bride.  When He comes to fetch her away, anyone who believes in Him, Jew or Gentile, will go with Him to the place He has prepared.  If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, a place under the wedding canopy is reserved for you.

Students for centuries have called the church the bride of Christ but this is unscriptural. All saints will also become a part of the bride when its members begin to live in the New Jerusalem but will not be the exclusive bride of Christ. All the redeemed of all the other ages will also be part of the bride (Rev. 21:9-10).

The Wife of Christ

Revelation 21:9-10

The wife or bride here is the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, and is the same as the wife in Rev. 19:7, which is the redeemed of all ages who will have part in the first resurrection and who will live in the New Jerusalem forever. Just because the wife of Rev. 19:7 is not called a bride does not mean that all women who marry aren’t called brides? It is true that Israel is married to God, but there is no proof that she is the only participant as a wife and bride of Rev. 19:7; 21:2, 9-10; 22:17).

What a wonderful life believers will have living with God the Father and God the Son. Yet, God the Father still has more wonderful things for His children that He has not disclosed but will uncover when eternity begins. Also, remember that Jesus will always be our Advocate before God.

1 Corinthians 1:26   26 For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.

God is testing us every day and has given us the right to make our own choices. Do you know which ones are the right choices in Gods mind?

Fear God, love God, honor God, and trust God with all your heart, mind and soul and you will receive and experience the joy of the promises of God’s blessings in His time.
