Jesus Christ was Totally Obedient to His Father’s Will

Jesus Christ used selfless obedience to the will of His Father, which is how the redemption of humanity is accomplished. Christ while on earth was willing to submit to the earthly authorities and set an example from which believers are called to imitate.

Obedience was central to Jesus Christ’s life and thought

John 4:34 (NKJV)

34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

Hebrews 10:9 (NKJV)

then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second.

Matthew 3:15 (NKJV)

15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him.

Matthew 8:9-10 (NKJV)

For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

10 When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!

John 5:30; 14:31 (NKJV)

5:30 I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.

31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go from here.

Hebrews 10:7 (NKJV)

7Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come—

In the volume of the book it is written of Me—

To do Your will, O God.’ ”

Psalm 40:7-8 (NKJV)

7Then I said, “Behold, I come;

In the scroll of the book it is written of me.

8I delight to do Your will, O my God,

And Your law is within my heart.”

Jesus Christ’s obedience meant ultimate personal cost

Matthew 26:39 (NKJV)

39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”

Philippians 2:8 (NKJV)

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Isaiah 50:5-6 (NKJV)

5The Lord God has opened My ear;

And I was not rebellious,

Nor did I turn away.

6I gave My back to those who struck Me,

And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard;

I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.

Isaiah 53:10-12 (NKJV)

10Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him;

He has put Him to grief.

When You make His soul an offering for sin,

He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days,

And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.

11He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied.

By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many,

For He shall bear their iniquities.

12Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great,

And He shall divide the spoil with the strong,

Because He poured out His soul unto death,

And He was numbered with the transgressors,

And He bore the sin of many,

And made intercession for the transgressors.

 Matthew 16:21 (NKJV)

21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.

Mark 8:31 (NKJV)

31 And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

John 10:18; 13:1 (JKJV)

10:18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”

13:1Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.

Hebrews 5:8 (NKJV)

though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.

Jesus Christ’s obedience was necessary for God’s salvation plan

Romans 5:18-19 (NKJV)

18 Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.

Matthew 27:40-42 (NKJV)

40 and saying, “You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”

41 Likewise the chief priests also, mocking with the scribes and elders, said, 42 “He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him.

John 17:2-4; 17:26; 19:30 (NKJV)

17:2 as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.

 17:26 And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”

19:30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

This is what non-Christians and religions other than Christianity do not have. They do not have Jesus Christ (who is the power of God), who created the church and gave Jews and gentiles in His church the hope of glory.

God is testing us every day and has given us the right to make our own choices. Do you know which ones are the right choices in Gods mind?

Fear God, love God, honor God, and trust God with all your heart, mind and soul and you will receive and experience the joy of the promises of God’s blessings in His time.
