Characteristics of God’s Love

It is eternal

Jeremiah 31:3 (NKJV)

3 The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying:

Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love;

Therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you.

17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting

Thanksgiving to God for His Enduring Mercy

Isaiah 49:15–16 (NKJV)

15  “Can a woman forget her nursing child,

And not have compassion on the son of her womb?

It is a covenant love

Deuteronomy 7:9 (NKJV)

“Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

12 “Then it shall come to pass, because you listen to these judgments, and keep and do them, that the Lord your God will keep with you the covenant and the mercy which He swore to your fathers.


1 Kings 8:23 (NKJV)

23 and he said: “Lord God of Israel, , who keep Your covenant and mercy with Your there is no God in heaven above or on earth below like You servants who walk before You with all their hearts.


Psalm 106:45 (NKJV)

45  And for their sake He remembered His covenant,

And relented according to the multitude of His mercies.

And I prayed to the Lord my God, and made confession, and said, “O Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him, and with those who keep His commandments,


It is lavish

Exodus 34:6–7 (NKJV)

Nehemiah 9:17 (NKJV)

17  They refused to obey,

And they were not mindful of Your wonders

That You did among them.

But they hardened their necks,

And in their rebellion

They appointed a leader

To return to their bondage.

But You are God,

Ready to pardon,

Gracious and merciful,

Slow to anger,

1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.


It is holy and just

Psalm 33:5 (NKJV)

5   He loves righteousness and justice;

The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.


Psalm 37:28 (NKJV)

28  For the Lord loves justice,

And does not forsake His saints;

They are preserved forever,

But the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off.


Psalm 99:4 (NKJV)

4 The King’s strength also loves justice;

You have established equity;

You have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.


Isaiah 61:8 (NKJV)

8   “For I, the Lord, love justice;

I hate robbery for burnt offering;

I will direct their work in truth,

And will make with them an everlasting covenant.


God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are spiritual warriors who fight wickedness, rebelliousness and laziness by teaching the truth of God’s Word and showing goodness, graciousness and love.

 God is testing us every day and has given us the right to make our own choices. Do you know which ones are the right choices in Gods mind?

Fear God, love God, honor God, and trust God with all your heart, mind and soul and you will receive and experience the joy of the promises of God’s blessings in His time.


Prayer:  Father in heaven, hallowed is Thy Name.  I praise You for Your Son and the Holy Spirit. I praise You for Your grace in sending us Your wisdom about the “Characteristics of God’s Love.”  I praise You for Your caring, Your loving kindness, and Your generosity.  Only Your graciousness and love could forgive the sins of mankind and still allow him to become a Son of Yours. Please bless those who have read this article for they too seek Your righteous truth, love, wisdom and understanding.
