Things To Think About

By CB

This article is about a story I picked up along the way and thought it had merit and some other things that I think are worthy of being reminded of.

The Rootbeer Float Story

Several years ago, I lived on an acreage which had an old barn. At night the hayloft was pitch black because there were no windows. One night I needed to go up to the hayloft to put another coat of paint on a root beer float stand for the Boy Scouts. My flashlight was not very bright, but I had rigged up a light that I could plug into an extension cord.

As I was attempting to plug in the light, I heard a deep groaning behind me. I thought one of the horses had colic and went over to an opening to check on them. The groaning was coming from an old easy chair we had in the loft for the kids to play with.

My first instinct was to run for the stairs, in which case I probably would have fallen down the stairs.

I went back to the light and tried to plug it in. The groaning continued and the light would not come on.

Finally a phrase from A Witches Invitation by Carmen came to mind and I shouted I’ve been bought by the blood of Jesus Christ, now leave me alone.” The groaning stopped, the light came on, and I put another coat of paint on the root beer float stand.

Now, here are some other things to think about!!!

While laying there on the couch or leaned back in the big chair, why not read and study God’s Word? Eventually you will come to realize that you are going nowhere. The Holy Spirit will encourage and help you to change your ways. However, you must put your parked car in gear and engage your mind and move your feet. God will love you for that!

God in his mercy does not give us what we do deserve but God in his grace gives us what we don’t deserve.

Satan’s job is 24hrs 365 days a year and he never takes lunch, vacation or has a sick day. Are you ready to join the war? Know your enemy, prepare yourself.

Take note that probably the most important good things are God’s love, mercy, and grace. For if it was not for His love, mercy and grace we would not exist or we would be the stew in the pot of Satan.

The church has one function, and that is to guard the truth, to proclaim the truth and to live the truth. So you take the Word of God, you teach it, you proclaim it, you protect it, you defend it, and you live it, and that’s a church. The Word of God rightly divided, rightly understood.

Boast not that you know the LORD but rather, make absolutely sure…the LORD knows you. Matthew 7:23.

To live as children of light one must discern what pleases the Lord (cf. 2 Cor. 5:9; Col. 1:10).

Prayer does not exist, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Prayer is simply what happens when we go before our Father and ask for His help.

Fear does not exist, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Fear is simply what happens in the absence of God.

“Evil does not exist, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply what happens in the absence of God.

Non-believers do not exist, or at least not unto themselves. Non-believers are simply what happens in the absence of God.

Divorce does not exist, or at least it does not exist unto itself, Divorce is what happens in the absence of God.

Prayer does not exist, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Prayer is simply what happens when we go before our Father and admit our sins, tell Him about our day, pray for others, ask for His help etc.

Note: The common denominator in these messages is God. All people share God and Jesus for a while. But only believers can share joy from God and Jesus after this life, forever and ever.

The Authentic Man

Towering above the conventional man is the Son of Man. Jesus Christ modeled authentic manhood whose measure is not power, not fashion, and not passion, but joyful responsibility, humble service, and courageous leadership. It’s an ideal of masculinity that people who want to “feel safe and taken care of” will be drawn to.

What a Gentleman Does

When in the company of a young lady, a gentleman opens the door for her, helps her into her chair, and escorts her on the traffic side of the sidewalk.

Just think, what if you opened the door to Jesus Christ and helped others to know about Jesus and escorted them to church. What do you think you would be called then? Possibly a Christian Lady or Christian Gentleman – “servant of God.”

What is Gods Purpose for Me?

“Give thanks in all things to the lord, for this is His will in Christ Jesus.” God does cause all things to work together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

The Lord uses the “bad” things that happen to us to grow us toward His likeness. It may take you a while to see it, but the fruit in your life will attest to His work in you.

What does True Forgiveness Entail

It is very tempting, when we’ve done wrong, to ask forgiveness and get on with life. We want what has been called “cheap grace.” We want the easy way out, failing to fully appreciate the depth of pain which we have caused others. We expect quick forgiveness, rather than allowing others the time needed to heal and begin trusting again.

Zacchaeus, the unethical tax collector who humbled himself before Jesus, had a life transformation. Filled with legitimate guilt over his actions, having faced the living Savior, he vows to give half of his possessions to the poor and repay four times what he has cheated from people. His story is anything but cheap grace and he was willing to face life’s transformation.

Listen to King David as he laments his actions in Psalm 51. “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion, blot out my transgression. Wash away my iniquity and cleanse me from sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned, and done what is evil in your sight” (Psalm 51:1-3).

King David had sinned and hurt a lot of people. He even killed a man so he could have the man’s wife, Bathsheba. While there is no question that God forgave David, He did not spare him from the consequences of his sin. David felt tremendous grief, and agony, and lost a son because of his sin.

As much as we’d like to move forward from our actions, there are times when the ripple effects continue for some time.

Always keep Jesus in your heart and on your mind.

God is testing us every day and has given us the right to make our own choices. Do you know which ones are the right choices in Gods mind?

Fear God, love God, honor God, and trust God with all your heart, mind and soul and you will receive and experience the joy of the promises of God’s blessings in His time.

Prayer:   Father in heaven, I praise You for Your Son and the Holy Spirit. I praise You for Your grace in sending us Your wisdom about “Things to Think About.” Please bless all those who have read this article for they too are seeking Your righteous truth, love, wisdom and understanding.

I praise You for Your grace in giving mankind the opportunity to come in the spirit with the right heart, the right mind and to the right place to worship Him who gave us all we have including the gift of becoming a child of God.

May God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit and Christianity be our guiding lights, our safety nets and our inspiration for loving happiness in all of Your kingdom. Father into your hands I commend my spirit. Not my will, but yours be done. Please come Lord Jesus.

I pray in Jesus sweet name and to His glory through the power of the Holy Spirit,

Amen.
