Shame

Adam and Eve felt no shame until after their sin. Avoid shameful desires. Diviners will be disgraced. A fool is put to shame. Jesus was mocked and shamed. Lord, do not let me be put to shame. A mother’s shame is a bad child.

 

Adam and Eve naked, felt no shame

Genesis 2:25    24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

 

After sin, Adam and Eve felt shame

Genesis 3:7    Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.

 

Avoid shameful desires

Colossians 3:5    Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

 

1 Peter 2:11    11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,

 

Disgraceful for man to have long hair

1 Corinthians 11:14    14 Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him?

 

Diviners will be disgraced

Micah 3:7    7 So the seers shall be ashamed,

And the diviners abashed;

Indeed they shall all cover their lips;

For there is no answer from God.”

 

Fool is put to shame

Proverbs 3:35    35 The wise shall inherit glory, But shame shall be the legacy of fools.

 

Jesus mocked and shamed

Psalm 69:7    7 Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; Shame has covered my face.

 

Psalm 109:25    25 I also have become a reproach to them; When they look at me, they shake their heads.

 

Lord, do not let me be put to shame

Psalm 31:1    1 In You, O Lord, I put my trust; Let me never be ashamed; Deliver me in Your righteousness.

 

Mother’s shame, a bad child

Proverbs 29:15    15 The rod and rebuke give wisdom, But a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.

 

No shame to suffer as a Christian

1 Peter 4:16    16 Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.

 

Noah shamed

Genesis 9:20-27    20 And Noah began to be a farmer, and he planted a vineyard. 21 Then he drank of the wine and was drunk, and became uncovered in his tent. 22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside. 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it on both their shoulders, and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father. Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father’s nakedness.

24 So Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done to him. 25 Then he said:

“Cursed be Canaan;

A servant of servants

He shall be to his brethren.”

26 And he said:

“Blessed be the Lord,

The God of Shem,

And may Canaan be his servant.

27        May God enlarge Japheth,

And may he dwell in the tents of Shem;

And may Canaan be his servant.”

 

Pride leads to shame

Proverbs 11:2    2 When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom.

 

Sin leads to shame and disgrace

Genesis 3:7    Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.

Proverbs 13:5    5 A righteous man hates lying, But a wicked man is loathsome and comes to shame.

 

Son who sleeps during harvest is shameful

Proverbs 10:5    5 He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.

 

Those who worship idols are disgraced

Psalm 97:7    7 Let all be put to shame who serve carved images, Who boast of idols. Worship Him, all you gods.

 

Wicked children are shameful

Proverbs 17:2    2 A wise servant will rule over a son who causes shame, And will share an inheritance among the brothers.

 

It is not shameful to suffer as a Christian. Noah was shamed when his youngest son observed him naked in bed. Pride leads to shame. Sin leads to shame and disgrace. A son who sleeps during harvest is shameful. Those who worship idols are disgraced. Wicked children are shameful.

 

Hearts can be renewed by Jesus. Christ can make a heart strong. God can create a new clean heart. The Lord can cleanse the heart and renew its spirit.

God is testing us every day and has given us the right to make our own choices. Do you know which ones are the right choices in Gods mind?

Fear God, love God, honor God, and trust God with all your heart, mind and soul and you will receive and experience the joy of the promises of God’s blessings in His time.

 

Prayer:   Father in heaven, I praise You for Your Son and the Holy Spirit. I praise You for Your grace in sending Your wisdom about “Shame.”  Please bless those who have read this article for they too are seeking Your truth, love, wisdom and understanding.

May God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit and Christianity be our guiding lights, our safety nets and our inspiration for loving happiness in all of Your kingdom. Father into your hands I commend my spirit. Not my will, but Yours be done. Please come Lord Jesus.
