We can all be hurt by reckless words which are not thought through. Therefore one must stop, think and consider another’s feelings before reiterating his thoughts. We must care about all of our neighbors and be conscious of how we speak. We should speak with a kind soft voice in fear of God and be led by God.
But there shall by no means enter into God’s heaven anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life (Prov. 12:18-22).
18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.
19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
20 Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
21 There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
22 Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.
Commentary: 12:18-19. Reckless words, which may not be intended to hurt, can in fact be very hurtful, piercing like a sword. They are not thought through. Who has not spoken something thoughtlessly only to find that his careless words were harmful? But words spoken from a wise heart can do just the opposite; they can heal instead of hurt. The effects of words of kindness, encouragement, and truth endure, but falsehood and liars will not. Only a moment translates an idiom, which is literally, “the blinking of the eyes”.
12:20. As stated so often in Proverbs deceit characterizes the wicked (v. 5; 6:14; 11:18; 14:8; 15:4; 26:19, 24, 26) but joy comes to people who desire and work for others’ peace.
12:21. The righteous experience not only joy but also protection. Befalls may be rendered “shall be allowed to happen to.” Conversely, the wicked experience trouble.
12:22. Again lying is referred to; the Lord hates it because it so directly opposes His standard of truth. Truthfulness is commended for it promotes justice.
Lying is the one thing that God really looks down on and could cause Him not to include a sinner in His heaven.
We are drawn to these sins through:
Pride – (Proverbs 8:13; 16:18-19) 13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate.
Retaliation – (Matthew 5:38-42) 38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. 40 If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. 41 And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. 42 Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.”
Deceit – (Psalm 101:7) 7”He who works deceit shall not dwell within my house; He who tells lies shall not continue in my presence.”
Unrighteousness – 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12
9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Wickedness – Psalm 7:11 11 God is a just judge, and God is angry with the wicked every day.
Combating Sin – After hearing Jesus tell them how to pray, the disciples realized that they were easily drawn to sin. Therefore Jesus’ followers need to ask God for help to live righteous lives.
We combat sin by reading and studying about Jesus Christ and the way He lived His life, and living our life as closely to His as humanly possible.
1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”
Romans 6:12-14 12 “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”
Dear friends, please take this instrument as the truth, the truth from God because it came from His inspired Bible. Please align your life outside of these things that draw sin and live your life as inspired by God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
1 Corinthians 10:32 32 Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Greeks (all other people) or to the church of God.
God is testing us every day and has given us the right to make our own choices. Do you know which ones are the right choices in Gods mind?
Fear God, love God, honor God, and trust God with all your heart, mind and soul and you will receive and experience the joy of the promises of God’s blessings in His time.

Please bless them and may they take it dear to their hearts.
May God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and Christianity be our guiding lights for eternity. Let it be Your will Lord not mine. Please come Lord Jesus.
