Rebuke

Jesus rebuked the disciples for unbelief. A dying thief rebukes his companion on the cross. The archangel Michael would not rebuke the devil. Nathan rebuked David. Samuel rebukes Saul. Open rebuke is better than hidden love.

Disciples rebuked for unbelief

Mark 16:14    14 Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.

Dying thief rebukes companion

Luke 23:39-43    39 Then one (Gestas) of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.”

40 But the other (Dismas), answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”

43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”

Michael would not rebuke devil

Jude 9    Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”

Nathan rebukes David

2 Samuel 12:7, 9    Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.

Why have you despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in His sight? You have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword; you have taken his wife to be your wife, and have killed him with the sword of the people of Ammon.

Open rebuke is better than hidden love

Proverbs 27:5    5 Open rebuke is better Than love carefully concealed.

Patiently correct, rebuke and encourage

2 Timothy 4:2    Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

Rebuke when necessary

Titus 1:12-16    12 One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, 14 not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn from the truth. 15 To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.

Rebuking a fool

Proverbs 26:5   5 Answer a fool according to his folly, Lest he be wise in his own eyes.

Samuel rebukes Saul

1 Samuel 13:13    13 And Samuel said to Saul, “You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the Lord your God, which He commanded you. For now the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever.

Warn each other

Hebrews 3:13    13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Whoever hates correction will die

Proverbs 15:10    10  Harsh discipline is for him who forsakes the way, And he who hates correction will die.

Patiently correct, rebuke and encourage. Rebuke when necessary. Warn each other. Whoever hates correction will die.

Remember that hearts can be renewed by Jesus. Christ can make a heart strong. God can create a new clean heart. God can give singleness (one God) to a heart. The Lord can cleanse the heart and renew its spirit.

God is testing us every day and has given us the right to make our own choices. Do you know which ones are the right choices in Gods mind?

Fear God, love God, honor God, and trust God with all your heart, mind and soul and you will receive and experience the joy of the promises of God’s blessings in His time.
