Rain

Disobey and God withholds rain. Elijah prevented rain for three and one half years. God also directs rain to fall.

Disobey and God withholds rain

Deuteronomy 11:17    17 lest the Lord’s anger be aroused against you, and He shut up the heavens so that there be no rain, and the land yield no produce, and you perish quickly from the good land which the Lord is giving you.

1 Kings 8:35, 36    35 “When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against You, when they pray toward this place and confess Your name, and turn from their sin because You afflict them,

36 then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of Your servants, Your people Israel, that You may teach them the good way in which they should walk; and send rain on Your land which You have given to Your people as an inheritance.

Elijah prevented rain for three and a half years

James 5:17     36 then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of Your servants, Your people Israel, that You may teach them the good way in which they should walk; and send rain on Your land which You have given to Your people as an inheritance.

God directs rain to fall

Job 37:6    6  For He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth’; Likewise to the gentle rain and the heavy rain of His strength.

No false god can send rain

Jeremiah 14:22    22 Are there any among the idols of the nations that can cause rain?

Or can the heavens give showers?

Are You not He, O Lord our God?

Therefore we will wait for You,

Since You have made all these.

Obedience brings God’s seasonal rains

Isaiah 30:23    23 Then He will give the rain for your seed

With which you sow the ground,

And bread of the increase of the earth;

It will be fat and plentiful.

In that day your cattle will feed

In large pastures.

Jeremiah 5:24    24 They do not say in their heart,

“Let us now fear the Lord our God,

Who gives rain, both the former and the latter, in its season.

He reserves for us the appointed weeks of the harvest.”

Noah’s flood, judgment

Genesis 7:4, 10, 17   For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made.”

10 And it came to pass after seven days that the waters of the flood were on the earth.

17 Now the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth.

No false god can send rain. Obedience brings God’s seasonal rain. The Genesis flood, judgment caused it to rain forty days and forty nights with the intent to destroy all life on earth except eight souls (Noah and his wife and his three sons and their wives).

Please remember that if we have any hope in our Lord and Savior who gave us “everything” we must be continually faithful to the Lord, first. Remember, God loved us first, even before He created us.

God is testing us every day and has given us the right to make our own choices. Do you know which ones are the right choices in Gods mind?

Fear God, love God, honor God, and trust God with all your heart, mind and soul and you will receive and experience the joy of the promises of God’s blessings in His time.
