Prosperity

Prosperity could lead one to forget about God or deny God. Prosperity can lead to a rebellion of God. There is a danger of prosperity such as a crooked heart and rebellion. There also is a false confidence in prosperity.

Could lead one to forget God

Deuteronomy 6:10-12    10 “So it shall be, when the Lord your God brings you into the land of which He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give you large and beautiful cities which you did not build, 11 houses full of all good things, which you did not fill, hewn-out wells which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant—when you have eaten and are full—12 then beware, lest you forget the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

Could lead to a denial of God

Proverbs 30:9    9 Lest I be full and deny You,

And say, “Who is the Lord?”

Or lest I be poor and steal,

And profane the name of my God.

Could lead to rebellion

Deuteronomy 32:15    15 “But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked;

You grew fat, you grew thick,

You are obese!

Then he forsook God who made him,

And scornfully esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

Crooked heart will not prosper

Proverbs 17:20    20   He who has a deceitful heart finds no good, And he who has a perverse tongue falls into evil.

Danger of prosperity

Psalm 73:12    12 Behold, these are the ungodly, Who are always at ease; They increase in riches.

Mark 10:24-25    24 And the disciples were astonished at His words. But Jesus answered again and said to them, “Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

Luke 18:25    25 For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

False confidence in prosperity

Psalm 30:6    6 Now in my prosperity I said, “I shall never be moved.”

Psalm 49:6, 7    6 Those who trust in their wealth

And boast in the multitude of their riches,

7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother,

Nor give to God a ransom for him—

Proverbs 18:11    11 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, And like a high wall in his own esteem.

Jeremiah 48:7    7 For because you have trusted in your works and your treasures,

You also shall be taken.

And Chemosh shall go forth into captivity,

His priests and his princes together.

God blesses, prospers you in everything

Deuteronomy 28:8    “The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

God prospers the humble

Job 5:11    11 He sets on high those who are lowly, And those who mourn are lifted to safety.

Hard work means prosperity

Proverbs 12:11    11 He sets on high those who are lowly, And those who mourn are lifted to safety.

Prosperity of Joseph

Genesis 39:2    The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

Spiritual prosperity

Psalm 23:1    1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

3 John 2    Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

Trusting the Lord leads to prosperity

Proverbs 28:25    25 He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, But he who trusts in the Lord will be prospered.

Wicked prosper

Job 21:7, 34    7 Why do the wicked live and become old, Yes, become mighty in power?

34 How then can you comfort me with empty words,

Since falsehood remains in your answers?”

God blesses you and prospers you in everything. God prospers the humble. Hard work leads to prosperity. Spiritual prosperity means that you may prosper in all things and be in good health, just as your soul prospers. Trusting the Lord leads to prosperity. The wicked also prosper and they spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave. Yet they say to God, ‘Depart from us, for we do not desire the knowledge of Your ways. Trust God who prospers you in everything on earth and in heaven.

Where there is no sin, there is no wrath, but there will always be faith, hope, love and holiness. Therefore those who have faith, hope, love and holiness will always be found in Jesus’ Book of Life.

God is testing us every day and has given us the right to make our own choices. Do you know which ones are the right choices in Gods mind?

Fear God, love God, honor God, and trust God with all your heart, mind and soul and you will receive and experience the joy of the promises of God’s blessings in His time.
