Worldly Pleasure

Worldly pleasure such as constant partying leads to destruction. Fools think only about having a good time. The love of pleasure leads to poverty. Some rather love pleasure than to love God. The pleasures of life can stifle spiritual interests.

Constant partying leads to destruction

Isaiah 5:11-13    11 Woe to those who rise early in the morning,

That they may follow intoxicating drink;

Who continue until night, till wine inflames them!

12 The harp and the strings,

The tambourine and flute,

And wine are in their feasts;

But they do not regard the work of the Lord,

Nor consider the operation of His hands.

13 Therefore my people have gone into captivity,

Because they have no knowledge;

Their honorable men are famished,

And their multitude dried up with thirst.

Fools only think about having a good time

Ecclesiastes 7:4    4   The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, But the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.

Love of pleasure leads to poverty

Proverbs 21:17    17 He who loves pleasure will be a poor man; He who loves wine and oil will not be rich.

Love pleasure rather than God

2 Timothy 3:1-5    1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

Moses chose God’s way over fleeting pleasures

Hebrews 11:25    25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,

Pleasures of life can stifle spiritual interests

Luke 8:14   14 Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.

Sin nature craves for lustful pleasures

Galatians 5:19-21    19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Slaves to evil pleasure

Titus 3:3    For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.

Wicked love to indulge in evil pleasures

2 Peter 2:12-14    12 But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption, 13 and will receive the wages of unrighteousness, as those who count it pleasure to carouse in the daytime. They are spots and blemishes, carousing in their own deceptions while they feast with you, 14 having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children.

Worldly pleasures do not satisfy

Ecclesiastes 2:8-11    I also gathered for myself silver and gold and the special treasures of kings and of the provinces. I acquired male and female singers, the delights of the sons of men, and musical instruments of all kinds.

So I became great and excelled more than all who were before me in Jerusalem. Also my wisdom remained with me.

10        Whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them.

I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure,

For my heart rejoiced in all my labor;

And this was my reward from all my labor.

11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done

And on the labor in which I had toiled;

And indeed all was vanity and grasping for the wind.

There was no profit under the sun.

Moses chose God’s way rather than fleeting pleasures. The nature of sin craves for lustful pleasures. We ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another which made us slaves to evil pleasure. Worldly pleasures do not satisfy. Some of us are over these sorts of worldly pleasures but some are not. Those who are not over them risk not coming out of them at all and/ or Jesus coming in the clouds for His saints before some come out of their worldly pleasures. Either way those who are still engaged in their worldly pleasures will get left behind to endure the tribulation. That is a tragedy.

Remember that hearts can be renewed by Jesus. Christ can make a heart strong. God can create a new clean heart. God can give singleness (one God) to a heart. The Lord can cleanse the heart and renew its spirit. However, this needs to be accomplished before Jesus returns in the clouds for all of His saints. Repent of your sins and ask God for a new heart before it is too late.

Please remember that if we have any hope in our Lord and Savior who gave us “everything” we must be continually faithful to the Lord, first. Remember, God loved us first, even before He created us.

God is testing us every day and has given us the right to make our own choices. Do you know which ones are the right choices in Gods mind?

Fear God, love God, honor God, and trust God with all your heart, mind and soul and you will receive and experience the joy of the promises of God’s blessings in His time.
