Philosophy

Philosophy has many brilliant ideas, empty philosophy, Epicurean and Stoic philosophers, high sounding ideas and human wisdom.

Brilliant ideas

1 Corinthians 2:1    1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God.

Cosmological argument

Romans 1:20    20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

Empty philosophy

Colossians 2:8    Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

Epicurean and Stoic philosophers

Acts 17:18    18 Then certain Epicurean and Stoic philosophers encountered him. And some said, “What does this babbler want to say?”

Others said, “He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods,” because he preached to them Jesus and the resurrection.

High-sounding ideas

1 Corinthians 1:17    17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.

Human wisdom

1 Corinthians 1:19-22     19 For it is written:

“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,

And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”

20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 22 For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom;

Wisdom that belongs to this world

1 Corinthians 2:6    However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.

God’s wisdom  is not known in full for man was not given all of His knowledge for 1 Corinthians 2:9 says:

But as it is written:

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,

Nor have entered into the heart of man

The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

This is very good news for those who love God. It is quite apparent that God has things prepared for us that no one has ever been made aware of. This should give every believer great hope and good reason to hold on until Jesus comes for His church.

Please remember that if we have any hope in our Lord and Savior who gave us “everything” we must be continually faithful to the Lord, first. Remember, God loved us first, even before He created us.

God in his mercy does not give us what we do deserve but God in his grace gives us what we don’t deserve.

To live as children of light one must discern what pleases the Lord (cf. 2 Cor. 5:9; Col. 1:10).

Fear God, love God, honor God, and trust God with all your heart, mind and soul and you will receive and experience the promises of God’s blessings in His time.

Prayer:   Father in heaven, I praise You for Your Son and the Holy Spirit. I praise You for Your grace in sending us Your wisdom about philosophy. Please bless those who have read this article for they too are seeking Your righteous truth, love, wisdom and understanding.

May God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit and Christianity be our guiding lights, our safety nets and our inspiration for loving happiness in all of Your kingdom. Father into your hands I commend my spirit. Not my will, but Yours be done. Please come Lord Jesus.

I pray in Jesus sweet name and to His glory through the power of the Holy Spirit,

Amen.
