Perfection

Abraham at age 99 was called to be blameless. The Father is perfect therefore we shall be perfect. The church will ultimately attain perfection. God’s law is perfect. God’s work is perfect. It is an impossibility for we Christians to attain perfection in this life but we should always work toward it.

Abram called to be blameless

Genesis 17:1    1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.

Be perfect

Matthew 5:48    48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Believers do not claim perfection

Philippians 3:12    12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.

Commentary: Paul’s salvation experience had taken place about 30 years before he wrote to the Philippians. He had won many spiritual battles in that time. He had grown much in those years, but he candidly confessed he had not obtained all this, nor was he yet made perfect (v. 12). He still had more spiritual heights to climb.

Church will ultimately attain to perfection

Ephesians 4:13    13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

Father in heaven is perfect

Matthew 5:48    48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

God’s law is perfect

Psalm 19:7    7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;

God’s power made perfect in weakness

2 Corinthians 12:9    And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

God’s way is perfect

2 Samuel 22:31    31 As for God, His way is perfect;

The word of the Lord is proven;

He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

God’s work is perfect

Deuteronomy 32:4    He is the Rock, His work is perfect;

For all His ways are justice,

A God of truth and without injustice;

Righteous and upright is He.

Impossibility of attaining perfection in this life

Psalm 119:96    96 I have seen the consummation of all perfection, But Your commandment is exceedingly broad.

Jesus, High Priest, perfect sacrifice

Hebrews 10:12    12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God,

Mind stayed on God is in perfect peace

Isaiah 26:3    3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.

Now we see imperfectly

1 Corinthians 13:9-12    For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

Perfect faithfulness of God

Isaiah 25:1    1 O Lord, You are my God.

I will exalt You,

I will praise Your name,

For You have done wonderful things;

Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.

Perfect in Christ

1 Corinthians 2:6    However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.

Philippians 3:15    15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you.

Colossians 1:28    28 Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.

Pray for perfection

Hebrews 13:20, 21    20 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 5:10    10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

Whatever is good and perfect is from God

James 1:17    17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Jesus the High Priest was the perfect sacrifice for our sins then He sat down at the right hand of God. A mind that is stayed on God is in perfect peace. Now we see imperfectly, for we know in part and we prophesy in part but when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. Whatever is good and perfect is from God.

One good thing about truth, the Gospel is God’s Truth, tell it and teach it to others and you will please God and build many rewards in heaven.

Always keep Jesus in your heart and on your mind.

God is testing us every day and has given us the right to make our own choices. Do you know which ones are the right choices in Gods mind?

Fear God, love God, honor God, and trust God with all your heart, mind and soul and you will receive and experience the joy of the promises of God’s blessings in His time.

Prayer:   Father in heaven, I praise You for Your Son and the Holy Spirit. I praise You for Your grace in sending us Your wisdom about “Perfection.” Please bless those who have read this article for they too are seeking Your righteous truth, love, wisdom and understanding.

May God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit and Christianity be our guiding lights, our safety nets and our inspiration for loving happiness in all of Your kingdom. Father into your hands I commend my spirit. Not my will, but Yours be done. Please come Lord Jesus.

I pray in Jesus sweet name and to His glory through the power of the Holy Spirit,

Amen.
