The bible speaks of quite a few things about patience, here below are a few:
Be patient in trouble
Romans 12:12 12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;
Be patient until Lord’s coming
James 5:7-10 7 Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. 8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
9 Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door! 10 My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience.
Be patient with everyone
Ephesians 4:2 2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,
1 Thessalonians 5:14 14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all.
Clothe yourselves in patience
Colossians 3:12 12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;
Cool-tempered person stops fights
Proverbs 15:18 18 A wrathful man stirs up strife, But he who is slow to anger allays contention.
Do not be quick-tempered
Ecclesiastes 7:8, 9 8 The end of a thing is better than its beginning; The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
9 Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry,
For anger rests in the bosom of fools.
Fruit of Spirit includes patience
Galatians 5:2 2 Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing.
Commentary: Paul was strongly opposed to the Judaistic theology which insisted that circumcision was necessary for salvation. Anyone who was circumcised for that reason added works to faith and demonstrated that he had not exercised saving faith in Christ.
Love is patient
1 Corinthians 13:4 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
2 Corinthians 1:6 6 Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
2 Peter 1:6 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness,
Revelation 1:9 9 I, John, both your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Patient man has understanding
Proverbs 14:29 29 He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, But he who is impulsive exalts folly.
Patiently endure troubles
2 Corinthians 6:4 4 But in all things we commend ourselves as ministers of God: in much patience, in tribulations, in needs, in distresses,
Patiently endure unfair treatment
1 Peter 2:19 19 For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully.
Preach with patience
2 Timothy 4:2 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
Wait patiently and confidently
Romans 8:25 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.
Wait patiently for Lord
Psalm 37:7 7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
Wisdom gives patience
Proverbs 19:11 11 The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, And his glory is to overlook a transgression.
The Lord asks us to be patient and wait on Him. In the mean time be patient in all that you do. Be patient in trouble, with everyone, in understanding, enduring troubles, in enduring unfair treatment, etc. Wait patiently and confidently for the Lord and if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.
Please remember that if we have any hope in our Lord and Savior who gave us “everything” we must be continually faithful to the Lord, first. Remember, God loved us first, even before He created us.
God in his mercy does not give us what we do deserve but God in his grace gives us what we don’t deserve
God is testing us every day and has given us the right to make our own choices. Do you know which ones are the right choices in Gods mind?
Fear God, love God, honor God, and trust God with all your heart, mind and soul and you will receive and experience the joy of the promises of God’s blessings in His time.
