Pastor’s

Our pastors are appointed by God  and are to feed and shepherd God’s flock. Pastors are not to be heavy drinkers, lovers of money, or quick tempered. Pastors are to pray, preach and teach to the flock given to him.

Pastors appointed by God

2 Corinthians 3:6    who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Partial Commentary:  Reliance on human rather than divine authority in letters of commendation was shortsighted and dangerous (2 Cor. 3:1–3). Even more so was the attempt to fulfill God’s righteousness apart from divine enablement. Those who did so found that the letter kills (cf. Rom. 7:10–11). But those who trust in Christ find that the Spirit gives life (cf. Rom. 8:2).

2 Corinthians 4:1    1 Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart.

2 Corinthians 5:18    18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,

Ephesians 3:7    of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power.

Colossians 1:23    23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.

Feed and shepherd God’s flock

Acts 20:28    28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

1 Peter 5:2    Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly;

God gives pastors to the church

Ephesians 4:11    11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,

Not a heavy drinker

1 Timothy 3:3    not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous;

Titus 1:7    For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money,

Not a lover of money

1 Timothy 3:3    not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous;

Not quick tempered

Titus 1:7    For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money,

Pray over the sick

Pray, preach and teach

Acts 6:4    but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”

Preach Christ crucified

1 Corinthians 1:23    23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness,

Preach Jesus as Lord

2 Corinthians 4:5    For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake.

Preach the Word

1 Timothy 4:2, 13    speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,

13 Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

Serve God

Revelation 22:3    And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.

Set example for flock

1 Peter 5:3    nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock;

Should be paid well

1 Timothy 5:17    17 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.

Pastors are to pray over the sick. They are to preach Christ crucified, Jesus as Lord, preach the Word, serve God and set an example for the flock. Pastors should be paid well. They are also to be respected as God’s servant and given our support any time it is needed. We should also listen to what he says and follow His lead as leader of the church for God. God bless our pastors.

There is nothing to compare with the richness of God’s love, mercy, wisdom and goodness towards His children. Amen.

God is testing us every day and has given us the right to make our own choices. Do you know which ones are the right choices in Gods mind?

Fear God, love God, honor God, and trust God with all your heart, mind and soul and you will receive and experience the joy of the promises of God’s blessings in His time.
