Mixed Marriages (Believers with unbelievers)

God’s inerrant bible says that bad results come from marrying unbelievers. Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness?

Bad results from marrying unbelievers

Genesis 6:1-4    1 Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.

And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

Don’t be yoked with unbeliever

2 Corinthians 6:14-16    14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:

“I will dwell in them

And walk among them.

I will be their God,

And they shall be My people.”

God’s anger provoked

Joshua 23:12, 13   12 Or else, if indeed you do go back, and cling to the remnant of these nations—these that remain among you—and make marriages with them, and go in to them and they to you, 13 know for certain that the Lord your God will no longer drive out these nations from before you. But they shall be snares and traps to you, and scourges on your sides and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land which the Lord your God has given you.

Two cannot walk together unless agreed

Amos 3:3    3 Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?

God’s anger was provoked when the people of Israel lived close the remnant of peoples who served another God and mixed their marriages. God warned the Israelites that the remnant nations with diverse Gods will be snares and traps and scourges on your sides and thorns in your eyes until they perish from a good land. In today’s world we can see the same happening. So we must be very careful not to intermarry with unbelievers or people who have a different god or more than one god.

What part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:

“I will dwell in them

And walk among them.

I will be their God,

And they shall be My people.”

An unbeliever is like a rocking chair. They will give you something to do, but they won’t get you anywhere with Christ.”

To live as children of light one must discern what pleases the Lord (cf. 2 Cor. 5:9; Col. 1:10).

God is testing us every day and has given us the right to make our own choices. Do you know which ones are the right choices in Gods mind?

Fear God, love God, honor God, and trust God with all your heart, mind and soul and you will receive and experience the joy of the promises of God’s blessings in His time.
