Judgment

After death comes judgment from Christ. Believers are judged  at the judgment seat of Christ in heaven (sometimes referred to as the Bema Seat). It’s like being on a winners stand in an athlete’s arena. Then You will also be given your place in heaven and clothing for Christ’s wedding ceremony.

2 Corinthians 5:9-10 The Judgment Seat of Christ

Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

Commentary: 2 Cor.5:9–10. Motivating Paul in this perseverance was his goal to please his Lord (cf. Gal. 1:10; Col. 1:10), a desire in effect during his earthly sojourn (at home in the body), which would be undiminished in heaven (away from it) (cf. 2 Cor. 5:6).

Contributing to this goal was Paul’s knowledge that he would one day be evaluated by his Master. He wanted to please Him and to hear from Him, “Well done, My good servant!” (Luke 19:17) In his previous letter Paul had mentioned this judgment (1 Cor. 3:12–15) with particular reference to Christian teachers (1 Cor. 4:1–5). Now he affirmed that all Christians will be evaluated at the judgment seat of Christ (cf. Rom. 14:12), which will follow the Rapture of the church. Believers will be recompensed for the things they have done in their earthly lives (while in the body). Their good deeds will evoke one response (cf. 1 Cor. 4:5; Eph. 6:8) and the bad (phaulon, “worthless”) will evoke another (1 Cor. 3:15; Col. 3:25). Salvation is not the issue here. One’s eternal destiny will not be determined at the judgment seat of Christ. Salvation is by faith (Eph. 2:8–9), but deeds issuing from that faith (1 Thes. 1:3) will be evaluated.

This perspective on a day of judgment and the prospect of eternity had a salutary effect on Paul. It enabled him to persevere in the face of hardship (2 Cor. 4:7–12). And it motivated him to be faithful in discharging his ministry (5:11; cf. 1 Cor. 4:2–4).

Non-believers are sent directly to the Place of Torment in Hades to await judgment at the White throne Judgment at the end of Jesus’ 1000 year reign on earth.. The day of judgment is coming and God will bring every deed to judgment. God will judge the whole earth righteously for every deed good and bad. Jesus is God and will judge all men. Nations will be judged at the second coming.

After death comes judgment

Hebrews 9:27   27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,

Believers judged by Christ

1 Corinthians 3:10-17     10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. 11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. 14 If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17 If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

Day of judgment coming

2 Peter 3:7     But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

God will bring every deed to judgment

Ecclesiastes 12:14   14 For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil.

God will judge righteously

Romans 2:1-3, 5   God’s Righteous Judgment

1 Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?

But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

God will judge the good and the bad

Ecclesiastes 3:17   17 I said in my heart, “God shall judge the righteous and the wicked, For there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.”

God will judge the whole earth

Psalm 96:13   13 For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with righteousness, And the peoples with His truth.

Great White Throne judgment

Revelation 20:12   12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.

Jesus is judge of all men

John 5:22       Equality with God in Authority

22 For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, 23 that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.

Acts 17:31   31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”

Judge yourself and still you will be judged

1 Corinthians 11:31   31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged.

Judgment awaits all of us

Matthew 12:36   36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

Romans 14:10, 12   10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

Judgment in the family of God

1 Peter 4:17   17 For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?

Nations will be judged at the second coming

Joel 3:2   2 I will also gather all nations,

And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat;

And I will enter into judgment with them there

On account of My people, My heritage Israel,

Whom they have scattered among the nations;

They have also divided up My land.

Matthew 25:31-46   31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

44 “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ 45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

According to Works

God gives what is due

1 Corinthians 4:5   Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from God.

Judgment according to deeds

1 Peter 1:17   17 And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear;

(That is fear God in the sense that you sincerely do not want to do anything to dishonor God.)

Revelation 20:12   12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.

Judgment according to what people have done

Psalm 62:12   12 Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy; For You render to each one according to his work.

Proverbs 24:12   12 If you say, “Surely we did not know this,”

Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it?

He who keeps your soul, does He not know it?

And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?

People will be paid back for wrong

Colossians 3:25   25 But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.

People will get what they deserve

Proverbs 11:31   31 If the righteous will be recompensed on the earth, How much more the ungodly and the sinner.

Reward according to work

1 Corinthians 3:8   Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.

We must remember we are judged for the whole while we are on earth. Make your deeds good ones, let Jesus do the judging, and put love in your heart for God, Jesus, the Holy spirit and all your neighbors.

(Remember, that if you have kept up repenting of your sins you will have no sins to be judged for. You will be judged for the good and the bad things you have done in Christ’s name, only for your place in heaven. If you have not kept up with your repentance it is possible your name will not be found in Jesus book of Life.)

Hearts can be renewed by Jesus. Christ can make a heart strong. God can create a new clean heart. The Lord can cleanse the heart and renew its spirit.

Where there is no sin, there is no wrath, but there will always be faith, hope, love and holiness. Therefore those who have faith, hope, love and holiness will always be found in Jesus’ Book of Life.

God is testing us every day and has given us the right to make our own choices. Do you know which ones are the right choices in Gods mind?

Fear God, love God, honor God, and trust God with all your heart, mind and soul and you will receive and experience the promises of God’s blessings in His time.
